Indran Amirthanayagam (indranmx.substack.com) is a poet, editor, publisher, translator, musician, youtube host and former U.S. diplomat. He has published more than 30 books and translations. He writes in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Haitian Creole. He is a publisher at Beltway Editions, writes a weekly poem for Haiti en Marche and El Acento. He is the 2025 Matwaala Poet of Honor. He was the 2022 IfLAC World Poet/Poeta Mundial. His The Elephants Of Reckoning won the Paterson Poetry Prize. Amirthanayagam has received fellowships for his poetry from The Foundation for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the U,S./Mexico Fund for Culture and the MacDowell Colony. Amirthanayagam received an MS in journalism from Columbia University and a BA in English Literature from Haverford College where he also served as the captain of its cricket team. Amirthanayagam’s Rankont Dout is available on music platforms. New books include White Space Sonnets, Isla itinerante, Seer, The Runner’s Almanac, and Musica subterranea.
