Mary Morris has lived in Northern New Mexico for forty-five years. She was raised on a small acreage in Oklahoma with nine siblings, and is the author of four books of poetry, most recently, “Lanterns in the Night Market.” Her other books are: Enter Water, Swimmer (selected by X.J. Kennedy), Dear October (Arizona-New Mexico Book Award), and Late Self-Portraits& (selected by Leila Chatti for the Wheelbarrow Book Prize). Her poems have been published in Boulevard,& North American Review, Poetry Magazine, Poetry Daily, and Prairie Schooner. Mary has also received the Rita Dove Award, the Western Humanities Review Prize, and the National Federation Press Women’s Book Prize. Kwame Dawes selected her work for American Life in Poetry from the Poetry Foundation. Mary is an alumna of the University of Oklahoma.
